Homecoming

The weekend before last was Homecoming....my first ever Homecoming! I didn't manage to make it out of bed in time for the morning parade but the game was a lot of fun. Black out baby. The Bronco's did us proud! I think I am finally getting the hang of the game and I just about got the chant down. I am all set for next year.

fall fashion

The weather finally got cold here in Boise. Not that I was complaining! I am finally - half way through the semester - wearing my jacket that I was wearing at the start of the fall semester in the Netherlands. Summer I miss you already. Summer 2013 - I am SO excited for you! I have a feeling you shall be the best yet.
As for now, I am wrapping up warm with layers and knits, especially now that I am getting over being sick. Fall fashion you are my favorite.

hello tuesday

This is me today. Minus the hunk. And my feet are in fact snuggled in woolly socks because I am sick.
Hello Tuesday, nice to meet you. After a busy busy weekend a horrible winter cold finally caught up with me. It takes a lot to get me down....but this cold is kinda getting me down.
On the bright side of things, I now have an entire day in bed to read books I actually want to read, and look out at the mountains all day long and sit by the crackling fire. See, there is always a silver lining, right?
Now that I have a moment to catch my breath I have realised that I have not been doing a good job with blogging. I apologise. Life has been hectic and if you have ever moved countries before you will get me when I say that adjustment takes a while.....several months. I still get sudden waves of homesickness for Europe. Some days I get upset that I can't just ride my bicycle along cobbled streets to the bakery or that I can't get a seriously mean cappuccino with my old University friends whilst we moan and laugh about our impossible work load. I miss those days. But, I also remember how when I was in Europe I would complain to the Dutchies that I missed my Idaho mountains....the very mountains I am sat in bed looking at now. I guess I can't have it both ways can I? Back to my apology...I am sorry for the lack of posts. I appreciate every single email and comment y'all send to me. Please bare with me whilst I get my act together again. Enjoy your Tuesday and be sure to check back this week because more posts will be appearing. Promise.

Last night I watched the Reel Rock 7 movie. It was insanely awesome. You should watch it.

Friday's Letters

Dear trail runners who run with your large dogs pulling you up hills....this is also known as cheating. You should stop and play fair.
Dear dollar tacos on a Thursday - you are a weekly highlight. So yummy.
Dear parents - thanks for the super helpful shower wiper that is in the glove compartment of the car. It was definitely a successful substitute for an actual ice scraper when I needed to de-ice the car this morning. Not.
Dear Dutchies - missing you guys. I really hope you all enjoyed your fall break this week. I am jealous - I have to be all American now and wait until Thanksgiving for my break. So far away.
Dear Starbucks Baristas - thanks for those extra espresso shots
Dear host mum - you are insanely awesome to have morning coffee with and come home to at the end of the school day.
Dear Homecoming Weekend - whoop whoop! This is my first! Please be as fun as I anticipate you being.
Dear Rain Storm - thanks for that. You made me feel like I was back in England for a day.
Dear 7.30am classes - you are killing me.
Dear evening class - you are also killing me.
Dear Coffee - you save me.

keep me outside

Do you ever have those moment where you feel truly alive? A moment when there is a deep wonder and a sense of fulfillment in your very being?
I get that feeling from time to time. The feeling tends to creep up on me when I am outside, in nature. I am spoilt to live here in Boise where I wake up each day to beautiful foothills and mountains. The sunsets still take my breath away. At least once a week I escape to the foothills by myself to run - that time is mine and it keeps me sane.
The weather is shifting right now, but the crisp autumn air is beautiful to be out in. So whilst others might be inside watching movies and playing video games, I shall be outside. Keep me there.

a day at the races

Well not quite.
A couple of weeks ago my sweet sister took part in a horse show - and she came first! We were all so proud and we greatly enjoyed out day out around the horses in the glorious sunshine (which has now official deserted Boise. sad times)
