New Year Fun

 null

Oh boy do I have a treat for you today! A few weeks ago I decided to take part in a blog link up pary that I heard about through the beautiful Casey Wiegands blog. What is a blog link up party you may ask, well, let me tell ya. One day three blogging friends, Casey Weigand from The Weigand's blog, Danielle from Changing Lanes, and Alycia from Crowley Party decided to have a little blog party - fellow bloggers all around the world sent in their details and were paired up. Once each blogger was in a pair we were set the task of getting to know our partner and sending them a little care package to just, you know, bless their heart and hopefully make them smile. A sort of little pick you up at the end of January when the weather is really cold, Christmas is over and summer seems so far away.
Lindsay from Originally Me
I got paired with the wonderful Lindsay over at Originally Me. Oh my goodness did her care package make me smile! Lindsay has been blogging for a while now and I think her blog is pretty awesome (go check it out - here!) Lindsay's blog is packed full of creative ideas, crafts, fashion inspiration and little gems of written thoughts. Lindsay is so very encouraging, kind and creative. She is a person I would love to share a cup of coffee with in person one day. From the very first email she sent, Lindsay has encouraged me in this weird new adventure of blogging and inspired me through her creative personality to keep learning new technical skills to improve my blog. Lindsay has also inspired me to start sharing more of who I am on my blog - my faith, my thoughts and my fears. My AMAZING care package included some much missed USA candy, beautiful hand crafted earrings from Lindsay herself, Instyle Magazine, nail vanish (to feed my habit) and some cute post-it notes.....and an offer of a ad space on her blog (whoop whopp!) This is the sweet care package that Lindsay put together for me and sent all the way from the US of A (note that the chocolate was already consumed by the time I took this photo - Lindsay you know my heart)

Thank you SO much Lindsay for your care package! I have been a little under the weather lately and this has definitely made me perk up!

Black Monday

As you know, I love The Rachel Zoe Project. And something I have noticed is her assistant's love for black. Many times Taylor, or Mandana will be dressed head to toe in black. I love how effortless and chic they look. However, I tend to not be able to  pull off the all black look very well since I am so pale and dark haired - tends to border on the goth look for me. Some days I feel like wearing black though. Today is one of those days. Yeah....first day of classes.....no student bar to look forward to......and I am sick....and mijn fiets is kapot! So today I feel like wearing black. If only I could look as awesome as Taylor or Mandana.

Skype

I have a love / hate relationship with skype. Some times it is SO good to see a friend or family member on the screen for a good old chinwag....but some times it just makes things worse - so close but so far!! Last night I arrived back at university in The Netherlands from Christmas break in England. After settling in a little, I skyped my parents and sister who live in the USA. I haven't seen them (in the flesh) since September  2011! I love how skype allows me to catch them in whatever they are doing and have a chat. So, last night when I called, my mum was giving the dog a  haircut. As you do. It kinda cracked me up so I couldn't resist taking a couple of screen shots for you all to see!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Dear Daddy,

Happy birthday to you!

You are the most incredible man I know. It is an honour to not only know you but to also call you dad. Thank you for all your wisdom over the years, hard work to take care of us as a family, all your help to enable me to survive high school chemistry and conquer algebra for the SAT exam. Thank you for being a man of God who leads by example and always has time to listen and encourage people.
I hope that you have a wonderful day today – your first ever birthday in the US of A!
Make sure you don’t work too hard….you are semi retired now!

I love you

Outfit Post

Ok folks....here we go! First outfit post EVER here on Me + Coffee + Life
My journey into the blog world really started through a fashion, fitness and life blog so I have wanted/dreaded/wanted to start posting my outfits....but in all honesty I don't really feel qualified!
Like I have mentioned on this blog before, some days I really pulled on whatever is in easy reach before I dash off to class. Posting about what I wear is therefore just gonna have to be honest on my part - you can take an interest or not ...no worries if not.
Here we go.....what I wore the other day...feels kind awkward taking photos...have to work on that.
Happy Sunday y'all!

Shirt - Jack Wills / Scarf - Local Market Find / Grey under layer - Abercrombie and Fitch / Dress worn as skirt - Forge Boutique / Belt - Anthropologie / Tights - H&M / Boots - Tommy Hilfiger

Friday Night

It is Friday night and I am packing up my suitcase.
Again.
I am moving.
Again.
Don't get me wrong I love to travel and I love to visit friends but packing up my suitcase over and over again is getting a little boring. I am entering my last week of my Christmas break from University.
Jeez five weeks have flown by!
I am looking forward to getting back to school in some ways but part of me is not looking forward to all the nights ahead of PB&J's as an entire meal, quick dashes to the coffee corner during class breaks and doing my own laundry.
BUT you gotta love University and all the craziness that goes along with it!
Work hard = play hard.
Here I am packing my suitcase though. Again.
I often wonder, when I get to heaven, the stats that God is going to tell me, "Sally, did you know in your life you drank .... cups of coffee?", "Sally, did you know in your life you spent .... hours playing air guitar to Aerosmith?", "Sally, did you you know you owned .... pairs of shoes in your life?".
Today I am wondering how many different places I will have spent the night.
Thank you hospitable friends for having me to stay over Christmas! I hope to repay the favour some time.
Tomorrow....off to the Island for the week.
But as for now, here I am packing. Note the new HUGE suitcase behind me.

A Golden Night

I have always been a sucker for pretty dresses so whenever the stars have a big night out I am always google-ing the dresses the following day
I think I would rock as Rachel Zoe's new assistant to the stars
That would be a dream job right there!
Here are some of my favourites of the night.
I though that Meryl Streep and Dame Helen Mirren looked radiant and proved that women of all ages are beautiful and that poise and elegance always triumph.

Jessica Alba in Gucci / Jenna Dewan in Marcia Lucia Hohan

Dianna Agron in Giles / Shailene Woodley

Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci / Lea Michele in Marchesa

Rocking the blue look is Dame Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischa / Madeleine Stowe /Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang

Success in Nude: Diane Lane / Heidi Klum
